About us
The Bayreuth Moot Association (BayMCA) is a registered association according to German law. It was founded on the 13th November 2012 by 14 professors, resarch assistants and students of the University of Bayreuth who were all former or recent Moot Court participants or coaches.
The statutory goal of the BayMCA is the support of science, research and teaching in the fields of International Arbitration Law and the International and European Sales Law. Therefore, the BayMCA supports Moot Court Teams of the University of Bayreuth during their competitons. During these Moot Courts, students take over the roles of the legal advisors and support their fictional clients an arbitral tribunal. Participating in one of these Moots therefore helps studentes to improve not only their rhetorical and english skills and their ability to work in a team but also gives them the possibility to be part of a unique international project.
The BayMCA does not only support the teams financially but also through training and supervision during the competition itself.
At the moment, the BayMCA assists two Teams, namely the Team for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Team for the Draft Common Frame of Reference Warsaw International Arbitration Moot. The Vis Moot focuses on the United Nations Convention on International Sale of Good and the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration whereas the DCFR Moot deals with the Draft Common Frame of Reference and the Arbitration Law of the Polish Chamber of Commerce. You will find more information on these Moot Courts on this Site.
